From the moment you hold this in your hand you can tell it is well made. Granted, a shovel at the local hardware may last you years but I'll gladly pay a little more and have something that is quality....and made in the USA.

It's the simple things that sometimes give great pleasure. Frankly, digging some holes with a big, sturdy, well built shovel is for me one of those things. This is a high quality tool with a very strong joint between the handle and the spade, a nice heavy spade, and a comfortable weight and balance. I'm looking forward to this guy sticking around for a long time.

I have the traditional wooden handled shovels, and have used many other variations in my trade for leveling, trench work, poo-catapulting into the neighbor's yard, etc.. For my own home and side-job use, I reviewed MANY other brands and handle every model Home Dippy and Lowe's had to offer. I read up on this brand and it stood out, so I tried one. This is the last brand I'll ever buy. I have 2 of the Square Points, and 2 Spades, plus rakes, etc. They are HEAVY DUTY!The steel is thick, and the design is well thought-out. The I-beam construction behind the neck of the shovel adds remarkable strength to the prying force. I can put 270lbs of standing/stomping force and not feel hesitant about bending the steel or breaking the triple layered, wood core handle. The rubber grip cap is comfortable and solid, even after leather gloves hands. I know a lot of people prefer to sharpen the spade tips for root cutting and such, but my land soil is rocky, so I don't want to chance abusing this shovel beyond common sense.I am a geek and a critic when it comes to to quality USA made products, and this brand has impressed me. I know they offer a higher grade for contractors, but I can't imagine I'll ever break this without intentionally abusing/misusing it. Buy this and you'll see why. American made = Americans paid.
