It was the best of spades, and the worst of spades

True, the handle will never break. The blade will fold over along a designed-in weak axis within a day of serious use, as it did for me. I shall now see if the "lifetime" warranty will be honored, or if any use of this tool on material (like soil) that is stiffer than sawdust will be considered an abuse.

Heavy Duty 92500 Super Heavy Duty Spade

I knew that I had a big job ahead of me. So I started looking around and I found this Garden Spade on amazon that I fealt was what I was looking for. So I ordered it and it was shipped to me faster than I could imagine. I took it outside and started to remove two bushes that I thought I could never get out. But to my plesant surprise it worked like a charm. It worked just like it was suppose to work and I not only got those two big bushes out, but others as well without no difficulty what so ever. To say that I was happy with my choice is an understatement. Again amazon came through with flying colors!

Good Spade, But Not Bulletproof

I have used this to make two fairly large gardens (enough to feed and can for two people, for one year each). The method is to lift out sod, scrape some of the topsoil off the sod, then deep fork the bed while adding compost and nutrients. I really put the spade through quite a lot. Sometime very early I tried to lift some sod but snagged a really big root. I pushed on regardless and the spade bent a bit. I stopped before it was enough to alter the effectiveness of the spade. It hasn't missed a beat since, but I keep this in mind and always make sure to use it properly. So its not invincible, but its tougher than any other spade I've used.So which color do you get and why are some more expensive than others? Bully tools have three grades, wood (ash) handle is the cheapest, red handle is next with a stronger handle made of fiberglass and wood fill. The blue handle is the most expensive and best having the same handle as the red but with a thicker gauge of steel for the working part (in this case the shovel head). Last I checked, they are all made in USA.
