If you plan on digging a trench THIS is the tool for you!

Okay so you aren't going to "dig" much of anything with this shovel. It's a "cleanout shovel" but for ditch digging, you ARE going to be cleaning out A LOT of loose dirt. My trenching expirence saw both a mattock portion and a "Ditch Witch" portion. I say again this shovel SPECIFICALLY is the best suited for the job. Why? It has a 3 inch spade width (where many others are 4). In the case of gas powered trenchers bigger isn't better. My trencher left me just over a 3 inch trench and I don't think a wider shovel would have fit. The only headache is on the portions of the trench that are wider, or where roots were split but not chopped off it will knock the dirt off your shovel and with that width you don't have much to start with. BUT for getting to the very bottom, this is hard to beat! FYI Where terencher was involved, I spent about equal ammounts of time running the machine and cleaning out the floor of the ditch.NOTE: As I said above, this tool is not for digging, the blade is too small and the handle angle is too sharp. If you intend digging a ditch by hand, you will need a mattock for the actual digging.
