Just saved my bacon again!

Not your everyday shovel. Not even your every storm shovel. But after the ice storm last night, I broke out my beast and scraped up the ice no problem.Now, this guy is heavy, and I wouldn't use it for an everyday snowfall. But for sleet and ice, or to bust through the snow mound left by the plow at the foot of the driveway, it can't be beat. By the way, I bought it in 1996 and I will probably pass it down to my kids when I die. I still buy the plastic shovels for regular use. But I wouldn't be without the beast!

Heavy shovel for heavy duty work -The best I could find.

I agree exactly with Max. It is a very heavy shovel. But in situations such as when you didn't shovel the drive for a couple of days and the snow is packed down by your car tires and there are patches of ice that won't come up with a typical shovel this is the tool to have around. This is not easy to find in even good hardware stores so I ws delighted to find it on Amazon. Almost always they carry plastic shovels, sometimes with a little steel strip so it will last longer (maybe a second season?). The handle is actual wood and steel (try finding anything except plastic handles these days!).It is good for moderate chopping and prying up ice frozen to the driveway that would bend thinner steel, most aluminum, and break plastic shovels. It will as Max says be something that should last at least a couple generations if cleaned and stored properly.
